cxNES is an open source, cross-platform NES/Famicom emulator. It is mainly written as a part-time hobby project to suit the needs of its author, but with accuracy, performance and portability as primary goals.
cxNES is written in C and uses SDL 2.0 for graphics, sound and input, and GTK+ for the GUI toolkit. It should have the same functionality and roughly the same look and feel on all supported platforms. Currently only Windows and Linux are supported.

FCEUX - Windows (32bit)

An excellent emulator with support for virtually all Nintendo and Famicom games. Nice Gui, easy to use and with plenty of extras this is my Nintendo emulator of choice.

FCEUX is a cross platform, NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator that is an evolution of the original FCE Ultra emulator. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU. As the X implies, it is an all-encompassing FCEU emulator that gives the best of all worlds for the general player, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.

Mesen-X - Windows

Mesen-X is a fork of Mesen, which is a cross-platform NES/Famicom emulator for Windows & Linux built in C++ and C#. The original Mesen project has paused development, and this fork is meant to collect patches contributed by the community.

Nintaco is a cycle-accurate Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom emulator and NES Sound Format (NSF) player written in Java, ostensibly making it cross-platform. It supports the vast majority of games including those for the Famicom Disk System (FDS), Dendy, VS. UniSystem, VS. DualSystem and PlayChoice-10, along with a plethora of peripherals. It tracks play history, enabling the player to rewind time to undo mistakes, and to watch, export, edit and resume play at any point in the past. It supports netplay, save states, video and audio recording, video filters, screenshots, cheat codes, a debugger and a TAS editor. It can be controlled programmatically via an API. It provides automatic capturing of sprites and level maps. It even simulates R.O.B., the Robotic Operating Buddy.

RustyNES - Windows

A hobby NES emulator written in Rust.

RustyNes is a very basic NES emulator that supports mappers 0-4 and has save and load states. Other than the fact it currently runs at over double speed on my gaming system, it's not too bad.
If your looking for a real challenge, give it a try.

Tetanes - Windows

TetaNES is a cross-platform emulator for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) released in Japan in 1983 and North America in 1986, written in Rust using wgpu. It runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, and in a web browser with Web Assembly.
It started as a personal curiosity that turned into a passion project. It is still being actively developed with new features and improvements constantly being added. It is a fairly accurate emulator that can play most NES titles.
TetaNES is also meant to showcase using Rust's performance, memory safety, and fearless concurrency features in a large project. Features used in this project include complex enums, traits, generics, matching, iterators, channels, and threads.
